ARDA-ROC Helps ARDA-ROC : Timeshare Resales : Resales : ARDA-ROC Helps

ARDA-ROC provides information on the resale process to consumers, monitors resale company practices, hosts educational seminars for members and works with industry leaders to discuss the best solutions to ensure consumer protections and adherence to resale standards.

ARDA-ROC continues to address the growing misperceptions, as well as reduce confusion, surrounding the timeshare resale market.

ARDA and ARDA-ROC works with leaders in our industry – developers, managers, homeowners’ associations and reputable resellers – as well as with lawmakers and law enforcement officials to provide consumers with a safe and positive experience.

How ARDA-ROC Helps You

ARDA-ROC protects the interests of timeshare owners nation-wide through legislative advocacy with four key priorities:

  • Resale & Transfer: Protect owners from falling victim to scams by introducing and monitoring pro-consumer legislation.
  • Owner Privacy Laws: Strongly support responsible privacy laws for timeshare owners to ensure personal information is not shared with third parties for commercial purposes or unwanted solicitation and is kept safe from fraudulent activity.
  • Transient Accommodations Tax: Oppose any effort to impose an accommodation tax on the use of a timeshare unit by an owner or exchange guest.
  • Non-Judicial Foreclosure: Save homeowner associations time and money by supporting non-judicial foreclosure laws that enable the trustee to conduct a foreclosure sale outside the court system.

Joint Investigative/Enforcement Taskforce

In November 2014, ARDA and ARDA-ROC established the Joint Investigative/Enforcement Taskforce to coordinate efforts and ultimately minimize fraud in the marketplace.

This taskforce is in place to educate ARDA and ARDA-ROC members on how to identify scams/scammers, leverage ARDA-ROC’s new internal reporting system (ARDA-ROC Consumer Service Portal), coordinate a process for alerting appropriate law enforcement agencies, and establish a structure for ARDA and ARDA-ROC to work closely with these agencies on an ongoing basis.

ARDA and ARDA-ROC introduced, passed, or supported resale and transfer company legislation in the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Puerto Rico.
