Recent State Legislative Issues

May 17,2012

Arizona HB 2195 Effective on August 2

HB 2195, sponsored by Rep. Jim Weiers, that would permit timeshare developers to use an expedited filing process for amendments to their Arizona registrations was signed by Governor Jan Brewer on March 27. The bill will take effect on August 2, 2012.

Maui Budget and Finance Committee Passes Tax Increase

The Maui County Council Budget and Finance Committee voted to increase the timeshare property tax rate 50 cents from $15.00 to $15.50. The Budget and Finance Committee recommendations will be presented to the full Council on May 23 for a vote.

New York AG Permits Digital Offering Plans

Effective May 15, 2012, timeshare registrants in New York will be permitted to distribute the voluminous Offering Plan to purchasers provided they follow the procedures set forth in the Attorney General's new, revised Cooperative Policy Statement (CPS-10).
